How the BikePass ID works

01

MARK

Stick the two BikePass ID stickers clearly visible on the frame and the battery — weatherproof, scratch-resistant, UV-resistant.

02

REGISTER

Link the ID to your digital BikePass in just a few clicks.

03

PROTECT

Finders, buyers and the police can scan your bike — a Europe-wide database helps if it is stolen.

And what if the thief simply peels the sticker off?

They will not get it off cleanly. The special adhesive withstands several kilograms of pull — an attempt to peel it off always leaves visible adhesive edges or paint damage.

And even if the sticker disappears, your bike stays protected: the registration is linked digitally to your frame number and remains in place independently of the sticker. To be completely honest: removing it is extremely difficult — but of course not impossible. It simply does not help the thief.

BikePass ID FAQ

What happens if a thief removes the sticker?

Your bike stays protected. The registration is linked digitally to your frame number and remains in place independently of the sticker — the theft status can be checked at any time by finders, buyers and the police. The sticker is the visible deterrent; the actual protection sits in the register. On top of that: the set contains two stickers for the frame and the battery — a thief would have to find both in the first place.

Can the BikePass sticker be peeled off without leaving traces?

No. The special adhesive withstands several kilograms of pull; an attempt to peel it off always leaves visible adhesive edges or paint damage — and precisely in the spot where bikes are usually security-marked. For any buyer that is a clear warning sign. Removing it is therefore extremely difficult, but of course not impossible. It simply does not help the thief, because the registration remains in place.

What if the sticker gets damaged?

We replace a damaged sticker free of charge. You then simply link the ID again in the app. And even with no sticker at all, your bike remains unmistakably yours through the registered frame number.

How long do the stickers last?

The BikePass ID stickers are UV-, weather- and heat-resistant and carry a protective laminate. In material tests over 30 days, salt spray and continuous UV exposure left no visible effect, and solvents and constant abrasion do not harm them either. Under normal use they last many years — including in rain, snow and intense sunshine.

What happens in the event of a theft?

Report the theft in your BikePass account. The ID is immediately flagged as stolen for the police and for finders. If someone finds your bike and scans the QR code, they see the status straight away and can contact you anonymously.

Can I transfer the ID to a new owner?

Yes. When you sell your bike, you simply transfer the ID digitally to the new owner in the BikePass portal. That builds trust with the buyer and prevents misuse.

Does the BikePass ID work with every bike?

Yes — the stickers adhere to all common frame materials (aluminium, steel, carbon, bamboo) as well as to e-bike batteries. There is no loss of warranty, because nothing has to be engraved into the frame.

How much is shipping?

Within Germany, shipping costs €3.80. Delivery takes 1–3 working days with Deutsche Post or DHL.

Is the BikePass ID compatible with ADFC security marking?

Yes. You can use the BikePass ID alongside an existing ADFC security marking or serial number. You can store both in your BikePass — that gives you maximum identification protection.
